Marineford: the five-stage boss raid, and how the Sengoku fight actually works.

40 paws a run. Five stages. The last boss spends most of the fight behind a barrier you cannot shoot through.

Marineford is a boss raid, not a story island. You pay paws to enter, push through five named stages, and finish by bringing down Fleet Admiral Sengoku — whose health bar spends the fight protected by a Golden Barrier that only cannonballs break. The map card describes the job in one line: Storm Marine HQ, fight up to the scaffold and bring down the Buddha. Everything below comes from the select screen, the in-run banners and one full solo clear recorded on 31 October 2026.

Why this page exists. The maps page answers where the pickups are and which island comes next; the waves page covers the endless ladder and its milestone bosses. Marineford is a third thing — a paid, five-stage raid with a fixed boss and a drop table — and none of that fits either page. The Awakening guide explains what the drops are for.

MARINEFORD · BOSS RAID
A raid, not a story island: no completion badge exists for it in the 47-entry ledger.

CREW ADVISED · BUILT FOR 4
Four players can split cannon runs from damage, which is the part solo play slows down.
Boss
FLEET ADMIRAL SENGOKU — Storm Marine HQ, fight up to the scaffold and bring down the Buddha.
The scaffold is the fifth and last stage, not a separate mode.

The 40 is worth checking rather than trusting the banner alone, because paws are slow to refill. Across the same recording the gauge read 140/180 at the start and 101/180 after the clear — a drop of 39, against the one paw the timer added back during a nine-minute session. And the store’s +90 MAX PAWS pass advertises 270 capacity as “bank almost 7 boss raids”: 270 ÷ 40 = 6.75. Three independent readings, one answer.

Budget your session, not your run. With a 180-paw gauge you can enter four times and be left at 20, and at one paw every ten minutes a full gauge is three hours away. The shop page covers the two passes that change those numbers.

The drop table

The card lists five possible drops and prints a percentage on each one. This is the only place in the game where the raid’s odds are written down:

Drop
Item
Chance
What that rate means in practice
1
Buddha Shard Boss drop
100%
The guaranteed one — every clear pays it, which makes the shard the raid’s real currency.
2
Seastone Cuffs Uncommon
25%
A one-in-four roll, so a five-clear streak without it is ordinary luck.
3
Golden Dan Dan Mush Rare
12%
Roughly one in eight clears.
4
Admiral’s Coat Legendary
6%
About one in seventeen clears.
5
Pacifista Core Mythic
3%
About one in thirty-three clears — the number that decides whether farming this raid is worth your evening.

The card calls these “possible drops”. Percentages describe the roll, not a measured sample, and no drop log was published — the one clear recorded here is a single roll, not evidence about the odds.

The five stages

Each stage opens with its own name in the header, then switches to a zombie counter. Between stages the header turns into a countdown — Firewall down — move up! 13s, then 10s — which is the only clock in the raid.

Stage
Name as shown
Objective
1
The Landing
0/50 zombies
2
The Frozen Bay
0/65 zombies
3
The Redoubt Guns
Destroy the guns — the counter read 3 left, then 2 left
4
Oris Plaza
0/85 zombies
5
The scaffold stage
0/50 zombies, then VICE ADMIRAL — He holds the last firewall. Bring him down!

Two of the five are shooting galleries and one is a demolition job: the Redoubt Guns stage counts guns rather than zombies, and the counter went 3 left → 2 left. The fifth stage is the only one that changes hands mid-fight — it starts as another zombie quota and then hands over to the Vice Admiral, whose banner reads “He holds the last firewall. Bring him down!” That is the last gate before Sengoku.

How the Sengoku fight works

Sengoku arrives with a named bar — The Buddha, FLEET ADMIRAL SENGOKU — and a move label under it that changes as he attacks. Three were readable across the fight: SHOCKWAVE PALM, GOLDEN RAIN and WEIGHT OF JUSTICE. Two banners carry the actual rules:

Banner or prompt
Text on screen
What to do
Bounty
BOUNTY ON SENGOKU — Every second on the stage pays berries. Save up for your ultimate!
Berries are on a clock here. The berry counter climbs while he is alive, which is what funds the +10,000 / +99,999 upgrade buttons in the pause column.
Barrier up
GOLDEN BARRIER — Nothing gets through. Carry cannonballs from the rocks to the cannons!
Stop shooting him. Pick up cannonballs and load the cannons; the header counter tracks cannon hits.
Barrier broken
BARRIER BROKEN! — He is down. Hit him with everything!
This is your damage window. Spend the ultimate here, not while the barrier is up.

The counter is the clearest evidence for the loop. It first read 0/3 cannon hits, then 1/3 — and after that barrier broke and he came back up, the requirement had grown: 2/4, then 3/4, and the next frame is the The Buddha is down — hit him! banner. So the second barrier wants four hits, not three, and the fight is roughly two shield phases of cannon work with damage windows in between.

This is why a solo clear is possible but a crew is advised. Cannon runs pull you away from the horde, and the stage keeps spawning. One player carries a ball, loads a cannon, clears the adds that followed them and repeats; four players can split the runs from the damage. The clear below did it alone in 7:48 — which is the honest benchmark for a solo attempt, not a record.

One clear, in numbers

Everything here comes off the VICTORY card at the end of that solo run:

Card line
Read
What to do with it
Stage reached
5 · CLEARED
Clearing stage 5 is the whole raid; there is no endless mode on this map.
Zombies slain
390
The four zombie quotas add up to 250, and the card counted 390 — so each stage spawns more than its headline number. Where the extra 140 came from is not shown.
Diamonds earned
0
The raid pays the drop table and Berries, not Diamonds — do not budget a Diamond farm on it.
Damage
238,747 dealt · 1,523 taken · biggest hit 1,819
Survivability is not the constraint here; the barrier phases are what stretch the run.
Time in run
7:48
A realistic solo benchmark — and 40 paws buys one of these.
Daily quests
3 cleared, waiting on a fourth — “Play 3 runs with KITSUNE. Survive 3 waves in each.” at 0/3 for 700◆
The raid counts toward daily quests, which is a reason to run it even when the drop you want is not the mythic one.

Two things to take from it. Damage taken of 1,523 against 238,747 dealt is not a close fight — the barrier phases, not the boss’s damage, are what make this raid take time. And zero Diamonds is the answer to the question every farming page gets: this raid is a drop farm and a Berry farm, and if you came for Diamonds the Diamond guide is a different route.

The select screen at 1:06 carries the cost and the whole drop table in one frame. After that it is one continuous solo run: stage headers, the firewall countdowns, the Vice Admiral gate, then the two Golden Barrier phases and the victory card.

Jump to the evidence: 1:06 MARINEFORD / BOSS RAID select — 40 paws, Sengoku card, drop table · 1:30 Stage 1/5 — The Landing · 2:26 Stage 2/5 — The Frozen Bay · 3:34 Stage 3/5 — Destroy the guns · 4:26 Stage 4/5 — Oris Plaza · 5:34 Stage 5/5 — Vice Admiral, last firewall · 6:40 BOUNTY ON SENGOKU and the first barrier · 7:00 GOLDEN BARRIER — 0/3 cannon hits, carry cannonballs · 8:20 second barrier, 2/4 then 3/4 cannon hits · 9:20 VICTORY card — stage 5, 390 zombies, 0 Diamonds

What it does not prove: one squad, one difficulty, one evening. The drop percentages are the card’s own figures and the clear is a single roll of them.

What is still unknown

Frequently asked questions

How much does one Marineford run cost?

40 Kuma’s Paws. The raid select screen prints it above the map card: 40 PAWS PER WIN · YOU HAVE 140. Two other readings agree — the paw gauge fell from 140/180 before the run to 101/180 after it, and the store’s +90 MAX PAWS pass sells 270 capacity as “almost 7 boss raids”, which only lands if a raid costs 40.

Do I need a full party?

The card carries both tags: CREW ADVISED and BUILT FOR 4, and party size runs 1 to 4. The clear recorded here was solo — one player, on the Franky class, in 7:48 — so four is advice rather than a requirement.

What does Sengoku drop?

Five listed drops, and the top one is guaranteed: Buddha Shard at 100% (the boss drop), then Seastone Cuffs 25% (uncommon), Golden Dan Dan Mush 12% (rare), Admiral’s Coat 6% (legendary) and Pacifista Core 3% (mythic). The card calls them “possible drops”, so the percentages are the card’s own figures, not a measured drop log.

How do I break the Golden Barrier?

Carry cannonballs. When the barrier goes up the prompt reads Nothing gets through. Carry cannonballs from the rocks to the cannons!, and the boss bar switches to a counter — 0/3 cannon hits, then 1/3. When it breaks the screen says BARRIER BROKEN! He is down. Hit him with everything! He raises a second, four-hit barrier before he goes down.

Does Marineford pay Diamonds?

Not in the recorded clear. The VICTORY card’s DIAMONDS EARNED line read 0. What the run does pay is the drop table above, plus Berries — the stage spawns a BOUNTY ON SENGOKU prompt that pays Berries every second once the boss is on the field.

Is Marineford the next island after LogueTown?

Nothing on any official surface puts it in that ladder. Marineford is labelled BOSS RAID on its own select screen, while the story islands are tracked by completion badges — and the 1 November 2026 badge read added no Marineford badge. Treat it as a side raid you unlock, not as chapter six.

Where this comes from: the Marineford select screen, the in-run stage headers and banners, and the VICTORY card, read frame by frame from a 31 October 2026 recording (groundon7828). Two full-video model passes on it timed out with no report, so every figure here was read from frames directly. The 40-paw cost is a banner string plus the gauge delta and the store pass’s own arithmetic, and it is described that way above rather than as an official price.
